5 Unique Ways to Enjoy Cacao Tea

So, you've got yourself a bag of loose leaf chocolate tea. It's 100% natural and made from cacao husk and you're thinking to yourself 'OK, now how do I use it?'

We've explored 5 of our favourite ways you can Ignite Your Bliss with Cacao Tea so you can reap as many of the health benefits as possible.

1. Hot Cacao Tea

The most obvious, simple and delicious way to enjoy Cacao Tea, is... as a tea!

For the perfect brew, we recommend steeping 2 teaspoons of loose leaf cacao tea in 250ml boiling water for 5-7 minutes, or until desired strength. The longer you steep it the more the flavour develops so it depends on how you like your chocolate, mild or stronger and slightly bitter.

Try adding a touch of coconut sugar or preferred sweetener to bring out the true chocolate flavour. Be careful though, as you won't need much if any at all!

Once brewed you'll experience a unique chocolate aroma take over your senses.

If black tea is not quite your thing, it also pairs nicely with a splash of milk.

2. Iced Tea

If you're in the mood for a refreshing beverage, look no further than iced chocolate tea!

Brew as normal then chill in the fridge for a few hours and serve with plenty of ice.

Go a little fancy and try adding your favourite flavours like orange & vanilla or some fresh mint leaves. Adjust sweetener to taste if required.

3. Smoothie Base

If you haven't seen our smoothie recipes by now, you have to check out our Cacao Super Smoothie or Vegan Tahini Cacao Thickshake, both using kkao Co. Cacao Tea as a base.

It adds a nice rich chocolate flavour to the smoothie, means less milk is required and comes with it the array of health benefits cacao tea is known for including high in antioxidants and magnesium plus a natural mood booster.

You won't look back at another smoothie base again.

4. Cooking & Baking

From infusing porridge to making ice blocks and sweet syrup for muffins, cacao tea is versatile in that it can be used in your cooking and baking. Experiment and see how creative you can get.

A favourite discovery of ours is a crunchy candied snack we created; check out our Cacao Coconut Buckini Crunch Recipe. (Psst, if you make this recipe and then blitz it up in a blender, it turns into the most amazing 'milo-like' dessert topper)

5. Make a Body Scrub

We experimented recently with making a body scrub with the end of our cacao tea packet. The recipe still needs a bit of perfecting but have a go yourself. The basic ingredients you need are:

  • Loose Leaf Cacao Tea, blended to a fine powder
  • Organic raw sugar
  • Organic raw honey
  • Carrier oil such as organic coconut, olive of jojoba oil
  • Essential oils, the options are endless

Stir all ingredients together in a bowl and store in an airtight jar to use on your face or body, just massage gently into skin with water then rinse off.

These are a few of the amazing ways you can enjoy and get creative with cacao tea, and we expect the list to grow.

How have you used your cacao tea? We'd love to hear your favourite way to enjoy this choccie bliss or any recipes that you've created.
