Tea Time with Sasha Leong of Live Without Labels

Welcome to Tea Time with kkao Co. where we get to know our favourite foodies, health & wellness gurus, ethical & sustainability advocates, inspirational souls and all-round cacao lovers.

This week, we sat down for a cuppa with health foodie and ballerina Sasha Leong of Live Without Labels So brew a pot of your favourite chocolate tea and join us!

Sasha is a health foodie and ballerina from Australia. She has been dancing since she was 3 years old and has been lucky enough to travel and dance around Europe. Sasha left home at 16 to study in Amsterdam and it was around this time that she became passionate about healthy living and nutrition. She started her Instagram account last August after coming back to Australia because she wanted to help others in industries like hers that put so much emphasis on aesthetics. Sasha spent a long time living her life according to labels that had been given to her and that she had given to herself surrounding her diet and her body and she decided she didn’t want to live like that anymore. Sasha's main mission is helping people to see that you don’t have to live your life trying to fit into a certain box.

Go-to morning beverage?
Warm lemon and apple cider vinegar to start and peppermint tea after breakfast always.

What inspires you?
Reading mainly. Whether its about health and nutrition or a fictional book I always find that letting my imagination fly is what inspires me to strive for things in life.

What’s your philosophy when it comes to healthy living?
Eat real foods, shop from a farmers market if you can and resist the need to label the way you eat, just eat the way that makes you feel the best.

The one healthy treat you can’t live without?
Peanut butter and granola :)

How do you relax and spend your ‘me’ time?
Reading with a nice cup of tea or wandering around a market.

Where’s your ideal coffee date?
Probably my local café in Sydney Opencircus or one of my favourite cafes in Amsterdam Lavinia Good Food.

Is it OK to eat chocolate for breakfast?
How is this even a question? Of course! Although I would recommend some good quality cacao and kkäo tea rather than some Cadbury.

Favourite foodie or health & wellness instagram accounts?
Ooh this is a hard one… I love the gorgeous Jessica Sepel @jshealth because her books and blogs have helped me a lot. I love @healthycleantimes especially captions and Snapchat stories, she always makes me laugh. And @bonnyrebecca is my favourite vlogger.

Dark or milk chocolate?
Dark but it has to be 75% or above. I don’t understand 60% dark chocolate, in my opinion it tastes too sweet and you don’t get the nice bitterness of dark chocolate.

What’s your favourite recipe that uses cacao?
Bliss balls always.

One mantra you live by
Let it go, everything happens for a reason.
